One of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken in the gulf region was unveiled this week in Dubai.
The Burj Khalifa was confirmed to be 828m (2,716ft) high, easily taller than the previous record holder Taipei 101.
Even with the opening of this world renowned and much talked about building, question marks still remain about the long term viability of the Dubai property market after Abu Dhabi gave Dubai a $10bn handout to help pay off its debts and meet bank commitments.
The huge tower has 160 floors with 500,000 sqm of usable space for apartments, offices and shops
Amongst its many claims to fame are the worlds highest service lift and the highest observation platform and probably the most talked about feature is the world's tallest swimming pool which is located on the 76th floor.
The name Burj Khalifa is derived from the president of the United Arab Emirates and emir of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan.
