There is no doubt that the UK public continues to view the purchase of any property with extreme suspicion as we continue to bump along in an uncertain property market UK wide.
However strong interest in the Spain market was apparent at the recent A Place In the Sun exhibition in Birmingham. We spoke to several exhibitors from Spain who reported a better than expected turnout not just at the show but also in Spain property. Of course interest in Spain proeprty does not necessarily translate into people actually buying a home in Spain, but the fact that estate agents and developers alike are making positive noises suggests that we are seeing taking another look at the market, which in this economy is a good start.
Mark Roscoe from Quesada Estates in Costa Blanca said "the amount of people asking about Spain and Costa Blanca property generally is encouraging. Most people we talk to are looking for a bargain, but they are still being realistic about how much of a deal can be done on a property. Yes the property market is slow, but there is only so much of a discount a vendor will give someone before they walk away from the deal".
The consensus generally from the clients we have spoken to recently suggests there is an upturn in people looking and providing buyers feel they are getting a "never to be repeated" price then they are willing to take the plunge and buy the holiday home they have been talking about for the last ten years.
