Golfing in Cyprus has received another great boost with the building of the PGA managed Golf and Country Club at Tersefanou.
--- The small village of Tersefanou in southern Cyprus is ideally suited for this golfing venture; just 15 minutes from Larnaca’s international airport and minutes from the beach, interest in the resort and demand for the new developments surrounding the course at Tersefanou is already high.
Cyprus attracts thousands of golfers throughout the year, lured not only by the high quality courses, but year round playing conditions, five star spa facilities and exceptional sea and mountain landscapes in a country rich in mythology. The Tersefanou development joins four other quality golf clubs in Cyprus: the prestigious Secret Valley, Aphrodite Hills, Tsada and the friendly, more relaxed Vikla. Eleven more courses are expected to be built within the next few years, putting Cyprus on the way to being a true golfer’s paradise.
Combining the luxury of the hotel and spa facilities with real family appeal, the Tersefanou Golf and Country Club is set to eclipse even the most breathtaking holes around Aphrodite’s birth place. Not merely a holiday location, Tersefanou is set to become a large sporting centre with activities to satisfy the whole family. The PGA is setting up its national golf academy on site, as well as tennis and football academies.
The Cyprus Golf Federation (CDF) was established in 2000 and works hard to promote and manage golf on the island. Handicaps from established CONGU, EGA or USGA affiliated clubs will be accepted by a Cyprus affiliate of the CGF. If you have no handicap or valid handicap certificate, you will need to play for a card.
Outside of the golfing developments, Paphos is the closest city to the established courses where opportunities for shopping and visiting historical monuments are abundant. Tersefanou however, together with neighbouring Kiti and Pervolia, has its own special appeal. Venturing outside the development, you could go pony trekking around the picturesque village or explore on foot to visit the many vineyards and sample local wines. Beaches are picturesque, sunsets breathtaking, and there is nowhere you will be made more welcome than sampling local cuisine at the village taverna.
