Developers are currently restoring to its original state a fort in Sliema, Malta. Where once soldiers’ barracks stood and British army officers lived and worked, luxury apartments are being designed.
--- If you harbour dreams of owning a property in Malta and your very own piece of history then now is your chance. A new development is taking place at Fort Cambridge, an old fort built by the British in 1871 which defended the Sliema peninsula until Malta ceased to be a British Colony in 1964.
Here in Sliema, set on a slip of land surrounded by the sea, luxury apartments are being designed where once soldiers’ barracks stood and British army officers lived and worked.
Apartments will be contemporary in feel, with wide balconies and generous windows, maximising space and offering luxury and comfort. There are three standalone apartment complexes, offering a choice of 1, 2, 3 or 4 bedroom apartments, duplexes and penthouses. Most of the 380 units available have some sea views, and the uppermost floors offer the most extensive and wide reaching views of the sea and old Valletta over the water.
Fort Cambridge Apartments is away from the hub of urban noise, yet walkable to anything you might need. Uniquely in Sliema, this is a purely residential development with no cafés, restaurants, offices or shops on the lower floors. Without the commercial component, focus has been given to the enhanced living experience of the residents.
Additional benefits include full security, a fitness centre with indoor pool, and extensive car parking facilities - Fort Cambridge has been designed with four levels of garaging to accommodate 900 cars, more than enough for residents and guests of the 380 apartments on offer.
Inside, the landscaped grounds of the fort are focused on the Cambridge Battery, a pentagon shaped fort. This battery once held one of the 100 tonne guns that defended Malta and is a structure of interest and history in its own right.
The Fort Cambridge Apartments complex is a Special Designated Area without restriction on purchases from foreign buyers. All apartments are being sold freehold at very attractive pre-construction prices.
Prices at Fort Cambridge Apartments in Sliema range from €115,304 for an 80 sq.m. one-bedroom apartment to €722,106 for a 280 sq.m. four-bedroom apartment. Penthouses and duplexes of 300 sq.m. are also available. Garages start at €15,141.
