Is there really any such thing as a cheap holiday in Cyprus anymore?
The key factor that keeps holidays in Cyprus slightly more expensive to the competition Is the four and half hour flight. So whichever way you look at it, a holiday on the fabulous island of Cyprus is always going to be pricier than places like Spain and Portugal.
However those who take a little more time to look for the bargains will be rewarded. With a little effort you can find a bargain all inclusive deal for your family in Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca.
On a recent trip to Ayia Napa David Hincham-Jones and his family enjoyed seven nights half board in the heart of this sunny resort for a total of £632. David commented “we are probably the world’s worse planners when it comes to planning and booking a holiday, so like most people we took to the web with less than three days to go and searched a number of countries. We started by just googling cheap Cyprus holidays and as you would expect we got thousands of results. Having trawled through several sites we found the holiday we wanted departing in two days from Birmingham airport. We then took to the phone to confirm the booking but also crucially negotiated the price still further and were surprised to find that we got an additional 5% off the advertised price which was already discounted”
Most people are happy if they find a last minute deal on the web and usually book it. But what David’s story above proves is that even when you have found a bargain price on the web, it is worth then picking up the phone and seeing if you can shave some more of your hard earned money off that price.
So how was David’s cheap Cyprus holiday we asked:
“Rather surprisingly we were extremely happy with most aspects of the holiday. The one thing we would criticise was the room being on the small side, food was good and of course the one thing you can virtually guarantee about Cyprus in August was the weather which went from extremely hot to downright painfully hot. There is nothing better than having a great holiday and knowing in the back of your mind that you have paid substantially less than everyone else around the pool”.
Of course cheap holidays come with the risk of limiting your choice to “the leftovers” in terms of location and accommodation, but clearly with the economic climate there is still an oversupply of good holidays and proving you can hold your nerve and wait until days before you want to travel, then it is worth the risk.
