Pamporovo is an established ski resort with skiing traditions going back to 1933. The snow with a depth of around 150 cms lasts up to 150 days in the winter season. The average January temperature is about 3º C.
The Pamporovo ski resort is situated in Smolyan district at 1650 m above sea level at the foot of peak SNEJANKA (1926 m), in the Rhodopes Mountain.
Papmporovo claims to be the sunniest mountain resort in Europe with 270 days of sun per year on average. There is an efficient lift system and many ski slopes totalling 40 km of pisted runs and there is even a racing ski run for giant slalom.
The area is particularly good for beginners.
The resort is set in the south of the Rhodope Mountain where according to legend, Orpheus, the mythical singer, had lived. The climate is exclusively healthy and it is not surprising that most of the centenarians in Bulgaria are found in this district.
